Course Details

Explore Course Outline
  • Module 1 - Lean Six Sigma and data basics
DMAIC overview, CTQ trees, operational definitions, data types, measurement scales, tidy datasets. Quick visual checks.
  • Module 2 - Descriptive analytics and visualization
Center, spread, shape; boxplots, histograms, Pareto; sampling vs population; data quality checks. Hands-on in Minitab.
  • Module 3 - Probability, distributions, and normality
CLT intuition, normal vs non-normal data, normality tests, transformations and when to avoid them.
  • Module 4 - Inference for decisions
Confidence intervals; t-tests (1-sample, 2-sample, paired), chi-square for attributes data, one-way ANOVA for multi-group comparisons. Decision framing in Improve/Control.
  • Module 5 - Correlation, regression, and capability
Scatterplots, correlation pitfalls, simple linear regression, residual checks; Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk and practical interpretation.
  • Module 6 - Control charts and stable processes
When to chart, selecting X̄-R vs I-MR vs p/np/c/u, rules for special cause, linking charts to reaction plans.
  • Capstone - A3 improvement story
Pick a real process, define Y and CTQs, collect and analyze data in Minitab, then present a one-page A3 with findings and next steps.
Explore Learning Benefits
  • Use data to define problems, baseline performance, and pick the right tools
  • Describe, visualize, and summarize process data for quick wins
  • Run core statistical tests for DMAIC decisions: normality, t-tests, chi-square, one-way ANOVA
  • Model relationships with correlation and simple regression; interpret results for action
  • Estimate process capability (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk) and link to customer CTQs
  • Build and read basic control charts to separate signal from noise.
  • Use Minitab step-by-step for the above tasks and export clean reports (Python optional)
  • Package findings in a one-page A3 storyboard that leaders can approve
What are course requirements?

Basic spreadsheets. No prior statistics required. We start from descriptive stats and build to inference.

Who is the target audience?
  • Current or aspiring Yellow/Green/Black Belt practitioners who need stronger analytics
  • Quality, Ops, PM, manufacturing, service and CX teams
  • Analysts who support continuous improvement
